You’re a Big Ticket Item Pontiac
you will be expected to write
politically,
your audience unaware that you write
poetry, but don’t
do it unless you’re offered a speech writer’s salary
or annual income of cabinet ministers or policy analysts and
it will be imagined that you deliver these poems
with the fervor of 10,000 stampeding buffalo and the theatrics reminiscent of
Pauline Johnson but don’t
come across to easily, because
you’re a big ticket item Pontiac,
selling you soul in technicolor
replete with cigar-store-indian longevity.
